Admissions

Welcome to Ridley-Lowell!

Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute seeks those students who have a genuine interest and a true desire to enter the Accounting, Administrative, Criminal Justice, Electrical Systems, Medical, Information Technology, Legal Assistant and Massage Therapy fields.

Our instructors bring with them years of industry expertise, diverse educational backgrounds and a wide range of community involvement, allowing us to offer our students a well-rounded experience at Ridley-Lowell.

Prospective Students

Potential students are encouraged to visit the career training schools in New York and Connecticut for a tour of the facilities. Prospective students are required to have a personal interview with the Admissions Office to determine the program that is best suited for their career goals. For more information, please call and ask for the Admissions Office. We are available Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Successful candidates must file a formal application; be 17 years of age; and have received their high school diploma, GED or its equivalency prior to enrollment. If you are currently searching for schools but don’t meet the enrollment criteria, we are more than happy to help you obtain these goals to enable you for future registration.

Orientation

Once you have selected your program of choice and registered for classes, you will be given a full orientation prior to starting. Your orientation is designed to help acquaint you with the school’s policies, administrative staff and resources available. This is also an opportunity to meet other students and faculty.

Academic Honors

To emphasize the importance of academic performance, the school maintains a President’s List and Dean’s List. Awards are based on cumulative averages and are distributed as follows:

  • Students with a cumulative average of 3.75 or better will receive President’s List Awards.

  • Students with a cumulative average of 3.50-3.74 will receive Dean’s List Awards.

Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society

(New London & Poughkeepsie campuses only)

Alpha Beta Kappa is a national honor society formed in 1977 to recognize outstanding graduates of our Connecticut and New York trade schools, business schools, career colleges and institutes. Each honor graduate elected to membership receives a membership certificate, Gold Key and congratulatory letter from ABK. Student candidates should have marks of “A” or rank in the upper 10 percent of their graduating class. In addition to qualified students, the school may elect a limited number of faculty, staff, alumni and honorary members. These individuals should have distinguished records of service to the institution or be recognized leaders in their fields of work.

Graduation

Formal graduation ceremonies are held yearly, and all graduates in good standing are invited to participate in the graduation ceremony. At this time, academic honors will be presented for attendance, President’s List, Dean’s List and the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society.
