Phlebotomy Technician – PHB 101

Day Classes: Monday-Friday | 1pm-5pm | 6 Weeks | 3 days on campus 2 days from home
Evening Classes: Monday-Thursday | 5:45pm-9:35pm | 7.5 weeks | 2 days on campus 2 from home

The Phlebotomy hybrid program can be completed in 120 hours and is an essential diagnostic tool for managing patient care. The phlebotomy technician draws quality blood samples from patients or blood donors and prepares those specimens for medical testing. The technician has direct contact with patients and must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures, taking blood pressure, pulse and respiration readings, and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. This training will lead to an entry level position as a Phlebotomist in a hospital, physician office, or independent laboratories. The program consists of hands on experience in a lab setting, classroom presentation and online environment.

Course Description:

The Phlebotomy Technician is a hybrid program designed for an entry-level position, as well as to prepare students for the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing). The 120 hours is essential diagnostic tool for managing patient care. The course will provide the latest safety guidelines, federal regulations, updates on equipment and supplies; hazard prevention techniques. Phlebotomist perform an important role in the healthcare field in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The technician has direct contact with patients and must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures, taking blood pressure, pulse and respiration readings, and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. The program consist of hands on experience in a lab setting, classroom presentation and online environment.
