Phlebotomy

Phlebotomists perform an important role in the healthcare field in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The technician has direct contact with patients and must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures, taking blood pressure, pulse and respiration readings, and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. Ridley-Lowell’s phlebotomy program is designed to give you the skills you need to draw quality blood samples from patients or blood donors, and prepare those specimens for medical testing.

This phlebotomy technician program consists of hands-on experience in a lab setting, classroom presentation and online environment. The course will provide the latest safety guidelines, federal regulations, updates on equipment and supplies; hazard prevention techniques. This course will also help to prepare you for the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing).

During the program, you’ll take courses in:

  • Anatomy and Physiology

  • Cardiovascular & Lymphatic Systems
  • Venipuncture
  • Urinalysis
  • Centrifuging and processing

This training will prepare you for a career as a phlebotomist in a hospital, physician office, or independent laboratories.
